Christian Edcuation

The Christian Education Department consist of the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group, Children's Choirs, Confirmation Classes, Senior High class, Adult Bible Studies group and the Nursery.  As a committee our function is to organize and coordinate all departments of the Christian Education and function as a support group for all working in each division.

Sunday School at Friedens runs from September (first Sunday following Labor Day) through May (Sunday before Memorial Day) for ages 3 through 5th Grade.  It begins each Sunday at 8:30 in the Sunday School area with a group opening worship.  Then they divide up into classes for discussion and Bible study till 9:45.  Summer Sunday School has now been added and will occur during the 10:00 a.m. church service.

Vacation Bible School is a one-week session in July, which is open to all children in the area.  It sponsors a mission project as well as providing a summer activity for the community.

Our Youth Group is currently made up of kids from 6th grade through 12th grade.  The main goal of this group is to create a bond of Christian fellowship that kids can turn to for support.  Helping them to get to know the other Christian kids in our church community is done with with regular monthly meetings, community service projects, fundraisers, fun trips and ecumenical community youth events.  We would like in the future to have enough leadership to host three groups that would be the Primary grades (3rd through 5th), Middle school grades (6th through 8th), and Senior grades (9th through 12th).

Preconfirmation is Grade 6th through 8th.  Classes are held on Sunday during Sunday School time.  Main objective is to develop the education of these teens so that they are better prepared to be confirmed.  Confirmation classes are offered to children in 8th grade who wish to learn more about becoming active adult members of our church.  These classes, service activities and other events, which take them through the transition from Sunday school into the adult life of the church.

Adult Bible Study is held on Sunday morning from 8:30 till 9:45 a.m. September through May.  It is a group discussion, based on a Bible study book.  Giving you time to read the topic at home and helping stimulate discussion with the Sunday group.

The Nursery is a child care service for children up to 3 years old, while parents attend Sunday Worship.
